2020-2021 Season Information

By Beth Kienzlen 08/18/2020, 4:15pm EDT

Planning for the 2020-2021 season is underway

The MCYHL Board of Directors has met to discuss the plans/options for the 2020-2021 hockey season.  There are many factors involved as we all try and navigate through these unprecedented and challenging times.  Our first priority is for the health and safety of all of our members and  we will follow state, local, CDC and USA Hockey guidelines to ensure our goal.

Given the current state mandates of limited numbers of inside persons at one time and the no contact guidelines in place, we have decided to cancel the short season midget season for this year.   We will look to begin our regular season in November as well as to hold our Saturday Learn to Skate and Play Hockey clinic as usual in November.

We have been given all of our regular ice slots from Mennen and are looking at the options of providing towns those open slots normally used for pre-season practices and short season midget games to purchase individually.  Please keep in mind that these slots are above and beyond any league fees that are billed.

Below are the anticipated league fees for the 2020-2021 season.  These fees will be adjusted accordingly should there be changes from the normal 18 game season.

Bantam - $8,500

Peewee - $8,500

Squirt - $7,000

Mite - $6,750

Registration is currently open and we need towns to register asap to give us an idea on how many teams we can anticipate at each level.

Concussion Awareness and Information

Important Information on Concussions

In keeping in compliance with the league insurance company, all towns must be made aware and follow certain concussion protocols.

Please visit the following link for more information on concussions and your responsibilities as coaches, parents and players:

http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/index.html

We recommend that each organization require parents and players to view these videos, take the free, online courses and print their certificates to show they have taken the course.

We will discuss new protocols and requirements for the league at our upcoming board meeting.
